Julian Greis

Julian Greis (born June 6, 1983 in Hattingen ) is a German actor .

Life

Greis grew up in Hattingen / North Rhine-Westphalia . During his school days at Waldstrasse grammar school, he spent a year in the USA as part of the parliamentary sponsorship program of the German Bundestag and the American Congress. He gained his first theater experience at the Junge Schauspielhaus Bochum , before completing his acting training at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts from 2003 to 2006 under the direction of Volker Canaris . During his studies he already played as a guest at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and the Württembergische Landesbühne Esslingen . At the drama school meeting in Munich in 2006, he received the young talent award from the German Ministry of Education for his role in " Merlin or Das wüsten Land ". After completing his training, he worked at the Schauspielhaus Graz from 2006 to 2009 under the direction of Anna Badora . There he worked with Viktor Bodó , Tom Kühnel , Anna Badora, Christina Rast , Franz Wittenbrink and Ingo Berk, among others .

Since the 2009/2010 season he has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Thalia Theater (Hamburg) under the direction of Joachim Lux . He works there a. a. with Jette Steckel , Antú Romero Nunes , Luk Perceval , Leander Haußmann , Maria Ursprung, Tiit Ojasoo, Christopher Rüping and Bastian Kraft .

In addition to the theater, Greis works as a film and television actor as well as a speaker for audio books and radio plays.

In December 2012 he was awarded the Boy Gobert Prize for young actors on Hamburg theaters by the Körber Foundation . In October 2014 he and his ensemble colleagues received the Rolf Mares Prize for best actor for their performance in "Moby Dick". In 2017 he was awarded the German Children's Audio Book Prize BEO for the audio book "George" and in 2018 for the audio book "What we thought, what we did" .
