Julius Schmundt

Carl Friedrich Julius Schmundt (born October 6, 1815 in Berlin ; † January 3, 1894 in Guhrau , Breslau administrative district ) was a German doctor.

Life

Schmundt was a son of Friedrich Schmundt, his mother's maiden name was Manecke. Until 1834 he attended the Kölln high school . From 1834 he studied at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin , where he received his doctorate in 1838 with the thesis De dignoscendis ventriculi morbis .

He worked as a military doctor for various military agencies. In 1846 he was considered Escadron - surgeon to surgeon- promoted and as a battalion used -Doctor in several uses. A speech from his time as a battalion doctor of the 3rd Landwehr Battalion Sorau of the Brandenburg Landwehr Infantry Regiment No. 12 in Mühlhausen on March 22, 1857 in the Hermann Loyalty Lodge in Mühlhausen and the mention in the magazine Die Bauhütte let him assign to Freemasonry .

In 1860 he, at that time a battalion doctor in Infantry Regiment No. 27, was promoted to senior medical officer with the rank of major and to regimental doctor of the West Prussian Cuirassier Regiment No. 5 . During this time he was also the chief physician of the 3rd heavy field hospital of the 5th Army Corps and in the Franco-Prussian War from 1870 to 1871 as a division doctor .

In August 1886 he was promoted from senior medical officer 1st class to general physician 2nd class z. D. transported and on August 14, "leaving his previous uniform with board adopted". At that time, the rank of general physician corresponded to the comparative ranks of colonel / major general .

In 1888 he became retired general physician at that time . D. and practicing doctor, awarded the Royal Crown Order, Second Class.

In 1870 his son Paul, also a soldier, was killed. Two other sons from the marriage with Hermine Vahl († 1880) were also in the military, Alwin (1853-1940) was Lieutenant General and August (1855-1910) Major General .
