Shehu VI cabinet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Shehu VI cabinet was a government of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania , formed on October 30, 1974 by Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu of the Labor Party of Albania PPSh (Partia e Punës e Shqipërisë) . It replaced the Shehu V cabinet and remained in office until December 27, 1978, after which it was replaced by the Shehu VII cabinet .

The government reshuffle followed the parliamentary elections on October 6, 1974. There were few departures from the previous cabinet, but the government was significantly expanded: Shehu had taken over the Ministry of Defense from the disgraced Beqir Balluku . Adil Çarçani became first deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers, Abdyl Këllezi became another deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers alongside Spiro Koleka and Xhafer Spahiu . New to the government were Myqerem Fuga , who took over the new Ministry of Light and Food Industry , Rahman Hanku , who took over the new Ministry of Construction, Luan Babameto , who replaced Milo Qirko as Minister of Communications, Lefter Goga , who replaced Aleks Verli as Minister of Finance, and Llambi Ziçishti , who took over the new Ministry of Health, and Kiço Kasapi as Secretary General of the Council of Ministers.

During the reign there were various changes that can be seen against the background of a realignment of politics and the break with the People's Republic of China in 1978 - there were clear signs as early as 1976 at the 7th Party Congress, which approved a new constitution :

  • On September 1, 1975, Petro Dode replaced the chairman of the State Planning Commission, Abdyl Këllezi, who was also one of the deputy chairmen of the Council of Ministers. He was accused of being too close to the Soviet Union, China and Yugoslavia. Këllezi was executed in 1976 for sabotaging the economy .
  • The same fate befell Industry Minister Koço Theodhosi , who was replaced by Pali Miska on September 1, 1975 . He, too, was as beqir balluku and abdyl këllezi a military conspiracy economic and especially errors in the construction of the hydroelectric plant of Fierza and the steel combine near Elbasan accused. Theodhosi was executed in 1977.
  • Trade Minister Kiço Ngjela , who was imprisoned for 16 years , also fell victim to the wave of purges . He was replaced by Nedin Hoxha .
  • In April 1976 Pirro Dodbiba had to resign as Minister of Agriculture. He was accused of not having achieved the production goals. He was also expelled from the Politburo and the People's Assembly. He was replaced by Themie Thomai .
  • Thoma Deljana , Minister of Education and Culture , experienced a similar fate as Dodbiba . As a supporter of Këllezi he was transferred to a village school in southern Albania and replaced in the ministry by Tefta Cami. Thomai and Cami were the only women in the government.
  • In October 1976 Manush Myftiu joined the government as Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers.
  • Spiro Koleka, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, was replaced by Pali Miska after two years in November 1976, shortly after the 7th Congress. The Ministry of Industry and Mining, led by Miska, was taken over by Xhafer Spahiu, who relinquished the post of Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers.
  • At the same time, Finance Minister Lefter Goga was replaced by Haki Toska .
  • Myqerem Fuga handed over the Ministry of Light and Food Industry to Kristaq Dollaku in February 1977 .
  • In November 1977, Qirjako Mihali joined the government as Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers.
  • At the same time, the Ministry of Commerce was divided into a Ministry for Internal Trade and a Ministry for Foreign Trade. Nedin Hoxha took over the latter, Viktor Nushi was in charge of domestic trade.
