Kamienica (German Kamnitz) is a village in the powiat Kłodzki in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland . It belongs to the urban and rural municipality Stronie Śląskie , from whose main town it is six kilometers south.

Geography and climate

Kamienica is located on the river of the same name in the southeast of the Glatzer Kessel in the Glatzer snow mountains . Neighboring towns are Kletno and Stara Morawa in the north, Bolesławów in the northeast, Nowa Morawa in the east and Nová Seninka in the south. In the southwest is the 1425 m high Glatzer Schneeberg . Beyond the ridge, the border with the Czech Republic runs about two kilometers away .

history

Kamnitz was measured in 1596 and then created as a woodworking settlement. It belonged to the County of Glatz as an independent village community and was owned by the Bohemian Chamber . In 1684 it consisted of 20 piece men and five house workers . In that year, together with other chamber villages in the Landeck district, it was acquired by the Governor of Glatz, Michael Wenzel von Althann . He formed the rule Seitenberg from the acquired villages .

After the Silesian Wars , Kamnitz and the County of Glatz fell to Prussia in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg . At the beginning of the 19th century it consisted of 26 gardeners and 14 cottagers . After the reorganization of Prussia, it belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 and was initially incorporated into the district of Glatz . In 1818 it was reclassified to the district of Habelschwerdt , with which it remained connected until 1945. Since 1874 the rural community of Kamnitz was the seat of the administrative district of the same name . This was moved to Wilhelmsthal in 1908. Since the end of the 19th century, Kamnitz has developed into a popular resort and winter sports destination. In 1939 there were 583 inhabitants.

As a result of the Second World War , Kamnitz fell to Poland and was renamed Kamienica . The number of residents decreased significantly and in the 1990s was less than 10% of the population of 1939. As a result, most of the houses were left to decay. In the years 1975-1998 Kamienica belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship ( Waldenburg ). Since the political change of 1989 the tourist importance of Kamienica has increased.

Neukamnitz Colony

The Neukamnitz colony was established on Altwasser and Gellenau in 1792 by the then owner of the Seitenberg lordship, the royal judiciary Franz Bernhard von Mutius . It also consisted of six houses and belonged to the village of Kamnitz.
