The channel III3b is a long stretches artificially applied watercourses in the area of Viersen ( NRW ).

Hydronymy and synonyms

Canal III3b is also often referred to as the " branch canal ", on its upper course up to the confluence of the Willicher Fleuth , which is sometimes also called Bruchflöth in this area, and also called " Hofflöth ".

The source of the III3b canal is on Mutschenweg in Willich - Neersen .
From here it flows more or less towards the northwest via Clörath and Hagen until it flows into the Niers , a little southwest of Oedt .

The channel III3b has a length of about 10 km and its catchment area is nearly 82 square kilometers.

The channel III3b is the Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia as 19 waters of the type ( Small lowland rivers in river and stream valleys classified).

Its water quality is in quality class II and is therefore relatively good.

Flora and fauna

The channel III3b flows in the relatively short distance of approximately 500 m on the Clörather mill over. In 2010 this was one of the few nesting and breeding sites for white storks in the area of the Viersen district .
