The canton of Guillestre is a French administrative unit in the department of Hautes-Alpes in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It includes 15 communities in the Arrondissement of Briançon and has its main town (French: bureau centralisateur ) in Guillestre .

With the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons, the municipalities of the canton Aiguilles, which was closed at the same time, were assigned to the canton Guillestre. This previously consisted of the nine municipalities of Ceillac , Eygliers , Guillestre , Mont-Dauphin , Risoul , Réotier , Saint-Clément-sur-Durance , Saint-Crépin and Vars . Its layout corresponded to an area of 394.19 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 0511.
