Karabey (kurd. Zerdeşt or Serdeşt ) is a village in the Yüksekova district of the Turkish province of Hakkâri . Karabey is located in southeastern Anatolia at 1900 m above sea level, about 21 km southeast of Yüksekova. Karabey lies on the edge of the large plateau at the foot of the surrounding ridge.
Karabey means black lord . The name Zerdeşt is registered with the land registry.
In 1985 there were 420 people in Karabey. In 2009 the village had 600 inhabitants.
In 2005, the Kurdistan Workers' Party allegedly placed landmine-type explosives on the streets of the area several times.
