Karl Alexander von Burchtorff

Karl Alexander von Burchtorff (born May 16, 1822 in Regensburg ; † December 11, 1894 in Munich ) was the District President of Upper Franconia from 1876 to 1893.

Karl Alexander von Burchtorff was born on May 16, 1822 in Regensburg. His father was a stable master for the Princes of Thurn and Taxis . After attending grammar school in Regensburg, he studied law from 1839 to 1844 at the University of Munich , where he was a member of the Corps Franconia . After graduating, he worked his way up to his appointment as first secretary of the Ministry of the Interior in 1851. He continued his professional career in 1853 in Sulzbach at the regional court as first assessor . Finally, in 1856, he became a district judge at the Schillingsfürst district court . In the same year he was transferred to Brückenau in this function . In 1864 he came as a Government to the Government of Swabia . From 1867 to 1873 he was police director of the city of Munich. Burchtorff became government director of Upper Bavaria in 1873 . Burchtorff decided on his career as regional president of Upper Franconia . From 1876 he headed government affairs in Bayreuth for seventeen years until he was honored to retire in 1893. Before that, he was honored on May 16, 1892 on his seventieth birthday by being granted honorary citizenship of the city of Bayreuth. When he retired , he retired to Munich, where he died on December 11, 1894.
