Karl Ernst von Bose (born December 20, 1726 in Branderode , † June 9, 1789 in Rastenburg ) was a Prussian major general , chief of garrison regiment No. 1 and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

His parents were Karl Friedrich von Bose , electoral supervisor of the Saale rafts and director of the knighthood of Freyburg , and his wife Christiane Luise, née von Beust .

Military career

Bose was a student at the University of Jena from June 1744 . He came to the Electoral Saxon Army , with which he took part in the Battle of Kesselsdorf in 1745 and was captured. The chief of Infantry Regiment No. 22 Moritz von Anhalt-Dessau persuaded Bose to enter Prussian service as an ensign after the battle . In 1750 he became second lieutenant and on October 19, 1756 prime lieutenant . During the Seven Years' War in 1756/63 Bose fought near Prague , Kay , Kunersdorf , Kolin and Zorndorf and was wounded three times. From mid-July 1760, Bose was promoted to captain and company commander .

After the end of the war, Bose rose in his regiment and was on March 26, 1768 major and on January 11, 1777 lieutenant colonel . As such, Bose took part in the battles near Weißkirch during the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 and received the order Pour le Mérite for his bravery shown there.

As a colonel , Bose was appointed commander of the 5th Infantry Regiment on June 13, 1780 . King Friedrich II gave him the position of chief of the "von Hallmann" No. 1 garrison regiment on April 10, 1786 and promoted him to major general on May 20, 1787. The following year the regiment was disbanded. It was no longer used.

Bose was the master of Branderode and Weischütz.

family

He had married Ester Antoinette Wilhelmine Emerentia von Wedel from the House of Trampe in Stargard on July 30, 1752 . The couple had three daughters and one son, two of whom survived:

  • Karoline Christina Wilhelmine (born September 17, 1755)
  • Christiane Elisabeth (born January 2, 1757).
