Karl Georg Friedrich von Flemming

Karl Georg Friedrich Graf von Flemming (born November 17, 1705 at Lichtenwalde Castle ; † August 19, 1767 in Dresden ) was the Saxon envoy , general of the infantry and secret cabinet minister .

Life

Karl Georg Friedrich came from the Flemming family . He was the son of the Prussian privy councilor Count Felix Friedrich von Flemming (1661–1738) and Dorothea Sophia von Flemming (1673–1754). After his studies he became the Saxon envoy in Turin in 1740 . In December 1742 he was transferred to London and negotiated with England over subsidies for a war against Austria. After the conclusion of the contract in 1751 he was transferred to the court in Vienna . Here he represented Saxon interests during the Seven Years' War .

After Heinrich Graf von Brühl was overthrown in 1763, he was made cabinet minister for foreign affairs and was responsible for military command matters.

He was appointed General of the Infantry of the Saxon Army and Polish Lieutenant General and Starost von Mewe .

His brother Georg Detlev von Flemming became a Polish general and Grand Treasurer of Lithuania. Another brother Ernst Bogislaus von Flemming became a Prussian general.

He married Princess Henriette Charlotte Lubomirska (* July 18, 1726 - October 24, 1782), daughter of Prince Alexander Jakob Lubomirski and Karoline Friederike Vitzthum von Eckstädt on September 23, 1745 in Wölkau . The following children resulted from the marriage:
