Karl Gustav von Rudloff

Karl Gustav von Rudloff , also Carl Gustav von Rudloff (born November 20, 1782 in Schwerin , † November 19, 1871 in Niesky ) was a German military lawyer and Prussian major general .

Life

He was a son of Friedrich August von Rudloff (1751-1822) and his wife Christiane, née Loeper called von Gröning (1755-1822).

From Easter 1801 Rudloff studied law at the universities of Rostock , Göttingen and Helmstedt . After completing his studies, he entered the civil service of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1806 and became government secretary in Schwerin in 1808. In Schwerin in 1809 he was a co-founder of the Masonic lodge Harpokrates zur Morgenröte ; In 1823 he became a member of the Provincial Lodge.

On September 1, 1811, he joined the Anhalt Fusilier Battalion as a second lieutenant and took part in the battles near Vilna and Kovno on the side of France during the campaign against Russia . In February 1813, Rudloff went to the Russian-German Legion as prime lieutenant . He fought in the Wars of Liberation on the Göhrde and Sehestedt . His achievements were recognized by the award of the Order of Saint Anne III. Class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV. Class honored. With his promotion to captain he came to the adjutantage.

After the demobilization , Rudloff was taken over as captain in the Prussian army in December 1816 and employed in the 8th Infantry Regiment (called Leib-Infanterie-Regiment) . In mid-March 1819 he was transferred to the army officers and commanded Rudloff to serve at the War Ministry . On January 18, 1831, he received the Royal Prussian Order of St. John . As a specialist in military law, he was a member of the Immediat Commission for the revision of military laws in 1836. By August 1841 Rudloff was promoted to colonel . On 13 March 1847 he was awarded the character as a major general with board for disposition made.

Rudloff was very interested in theological questions and socially engaged. At the end of 1826 he suggested the founding of the Berlin Association for the Improvement of Prisoners . From 1844 to 1847 he was a member of the board of directors of the Prussian Main Biblical Society in Berlin . He became a member of the Historical-Theological Society in Leipzig and the Moravian Brethren and spent his long life in their settlement in Niesky.

Since January 18, 1820 he was married to Hypolite, née von Albedyll (1799–1861).
