Karl Maximilian von Mauschwitz (born May 12, 1795 in Goldap , † April 15, 1868 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Karl Maximilian was a son of the captain and later customs collector Friedrich Sigismund von Mauschwitz and his wife Johanna Christine, née von Wedelstaedt. His brother Friedrich Ferdinand (1797-1813) fell as a non-commissioned officer in the 1st Infantry Regiment during the battle near Danigkow .

Military career

Mauschwitz visited the cadet houses in Kalisch , Potsdam and Berlin . On January 26, 1813, he was transferred to the 1st West Prussian Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a portepeefähnrich and promoted to secondary lieutenant at the beginning of June 1813 . During the Wars of Liberation Mauschwitz took part in the sieges of Erfurt and Laon, as well as the battles near Dresden , Kulm , Leipzig , Claye , Le Ferte, Charleroi, Gilly, Issy, Wavre , Villers-Cotterests, Laon , Paris , Ligny and Waterloo . After the war, Mauschwitz was promoted to captain and company commander by mid-March 1826 . From mid-August 1837, he was promoted to major and served as commander of the III. Battalion in the 31st Landwehr Regiment. On May 23, 1841 he was appointed a member of the Army's Clothing Commission and was posted to Berlin until April 7, 1842. On March 27, 1847 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and transferred to the 15th Infantry Regiment as battalion commander . On August 3, 1848, Mauschwitz was appointed commander of the 7th Infantry Regiment and on November 19, 1849 was promoted to colonel .

On September 26, 1850, as the successor to General von Hahn, he was given command of the Prussian troops on the Holstein - Lauenburg border. In this position he received the Red Eagle Order IV class in January 1851 . On February 17, 1853, he came as a commander to the 21st Infantry Brigade and on March 7, 1853 was placed à la suite of the 7th Infantry Regiment. On July 13, 1854, he was promoted to major general , on January 5, 1858, he was put on the disposition with the character of lieutenant general with pension . He died on April 15, 1868 in Berlin and was buried on April 17, 1868 in the cemetery in Hasenheide.

Mauschwitz married Luise von Unruh (1796–1853) on November 9, 1822 in Krotoschin . She was buried on March 23, 1853 in the military cemetery in Glogau. His son Rudolf (* 1827) was in the 15th Infantry Regiment and in 1849 went into service in Schleswig-Holstein.
