Karl August Friedrich Fischer , von Fischer since 1844 (born April 15, 1811 in Künzelsau , † October 3, 1868 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg lieutenant general .

Life

He was the son of August von Fischer and his wife Karoline, née von Miere. His father was city ​​director in Stuttgart and princely Hohenlohe's privy councilor . Reinhard von Fischer (1845–1908), who later became General of the Infantry of Württemberg, was his nephew .

Military career

Fischer attended the Ludwigsburg War School from March 1826 and was transferred as a second lieutenant to the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the Württemberg Army on April 13, 1830 . In October 1830 he was transferred to the 1st Infantry Regiment , where Fischer was promoted to first lieutenant on February 9, 1835 and served as a regimental adjutant from September 19, 1836. In this function he was active in the 7th Infantry Regiment from April 15, 1844 . This was followed by his promotion to captain on November 18, 1844, he was transferred to the 8th Infantry Regiment . With this date Fischer was King I. Wilhelm in the personal nobility raised .

On February 28, 1848, Fischer joined the 6th Infantry Regiment, was assigned to the Quartermaster General on April 10, and was transferred here on July 22, 1848. There he received on 24 October 1853 the character as a Major , and on 25 September 1855 the patent for this rank. On September 21, 1857, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . As such, from May 9 to August 18, 1859, Fischer was entrusted with the function of Chief of the General Staff of the occupying forces of the Federal Fortress of Ulm .

As a colonel , he commanded the 3rd Infantry Regiment from April 6, 1865 to June 10, 1866 . During the war against Prussia , Fischer was then promoted to major general and commander of the 2nd Infantry Brigade. In conjunction with the VIII. Corps of the German Federal he took in the main campaign of the fighting in Tauberbischofsheim and Gerchsheim part.

After the peace agreement, Fischer received the Knight's Cross of the Order of Military Merit for his achievements and was promoted to Lieutenant General on September 13, 1866. Karl von Fischer died unmarried while exercising his service.
