Kayahan Açar

Kayahan Açar (born March 29, 1949 in İzmir ; † April 3, 2015 in Istanbul ), known as Kayahan , was a Turkish singer , composer and songwriter who also gained fame beyond the borders of Turkey .

Life

Açar spent his childhood and youth in Ankara .

Later he made his way to the big city of Istanbul. He then lived for a long time in Gömeç ( Balıkesir Province ). In the local İnta Sevgi Köyü , all streets are named after songs by Açar. Because of his daughter's schooling, however, he then lived again in Istanbul. Açar was married three times and the father of two children.

In 1990 he was treated for the first time for a sarcoma . The disease broke out again in 2005 and 2014. As a result of cancer, he succumbed to multiple organ failure on April 3, 2015 at the age of 66 .

Act

He brought out three 45s, one LP, eleven cassettes and CDs. First of all, he presented his first songs to the Turkish singer Nilüfer . These beginnings, in which Nilüfer also participated, have meanwhile established themselves as Turkish Classics .

At the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 he represented Turkey with the song Gözlerinin Hapsindeyim . The album Yemin Ettim (I Swore ), released on June 3, 1991, broke all sales records. Kayahan, who also wrote children's songs, took an active part in children's television shows. On April 30, 1992 the album Odalarda Işıksızım (In the rooms I am unenlightened) followed. In March 1993 he released the ten-song album Son Şarkılarım (My Last Songs) under the RAKS label . The album, which includes songs like Sarı Şekerim (My Blonde Sweetie ), Vazgeçmem (I can't stop myself), Aman (Oh No), Kardeşiz Senle (We're Siblings), achieved very high sales. Kayahan continued his career at the end of January 1995 with the album Benim Penceremden (From my window). After Canımın Yaprakları (The Leaves of My Soul) was touted with the slogan Allah kimseyi sevgisiz bırakmasın (God should not leave anyone without love) in July 1996, Kayahan published Emrin Olur (At Command) a year later . His ninth album was released in April 1999 under the name Beni Azad Et (Free me). Of the nine songs, songs like Beni Azad Et (Free me), Yine Şişe Bitecek (The bottle is empty again) and Her Yerde Aynı (Everywhere) became big hits.

On November 26th, 2000, the album Gönül Sayfam (Heart's Side ) was released, on which very emotional songs like Sevdaya Mahsus ( Succumb to Love), Kağıttan Kayıklarla (With Little Ships Made of Paper) and Söz Güzelim (Promised, My Beauty) found their place like Ölmem mi Lazım (Do I have to die then), Aman Beni Unutma (Don't forget me), Tek Delikli Kaval (The flute with only one hole) and 17 Ağustos (August 17th), which he gave for the victims of the earthquake on August 17th. August 1999 wrote. He wrote songs like Ninni for his daughter Aslı Gönül .

The next album was released on December 17, 2002 under the title Ne Oldu Can (What happened, soul). It was followed by the widely known songs Ne Oldu Can (What happened, soul), Bir Aşk Hikayesi (A love story) and Onsuz Olmuyor ( You can't do without them). With this album he broke all sales records again. For his colleague Barış Manço he wrote the title Bugün Aslında Bayram (Today is actually a festival). Over the years he released other albums, but they never reached the level of awareness of Ne Oldu Can .
