Kevin R. McNally (born April 27, 1956 in Bristol , England ) is a British actor . His best known role is that of Joshamee Gibbs in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series .

Life

McNally grew up in Birmingham and attended various junior schools such as a Central Grammar School for boys. He got his first job at the age of 16. In 1975 he received the "Best Actor Bancroft Gold Medal" for his achievements. Since 1976 he has been involved in numerous television productions, where he turned out to be a very versatile actor.

He became known in 2003 in the pirate film Pirates of the Caribbean , in which he played the role of the pirate Joshamee Gibbs. He also played the character in the four sequels to date.

In addition, McNally appears regularly at the theater. For his role as Lebedev in the staging of Chekhov's play Ivanov at Wyndham's Theater , he was at the 2009 Laurence Olivier Awards as Best Supporting Actor nomination.

McNally is married to Scottish actress Phyllis Logan and has one son with her.
