Attractions
Steinbachtalsperre
Kirchheim is best known for the nearby Steinbachtalsperre . It was built between 1934 and 1936 to supply the Flamersheim leather factory and the Euskirchen cloth factory with water. In 1986 the dam was supposed to be drained, but a citizens' initiative prevented this. The Steinbachtalsperre is a popular destination with the adjoining outdoor pool, the Eulenhecke forest area and the Hillerscheider Flur.
Village center
In the center of the village are the parish church of St. Martinus , the old rectory , the old cemetery, the old school and a former small monastery, whose sisters ran a kindergarten. Today it is a Caritas sheltered residence.
At the end of the 1950s, Rosa Öhlinger (called "Rosa"), the housekeeper of Dean Joseph Emonds at the time , laid a fountain between the church, kindergarten and monastery with her own hands.
Educational institutions
In Kirchheim there is a one- to two-class elementary school , which from August 2006 will offer childcare as an open all-day school until the afternoon. There are no secondary schools in Kirchheim. The Kirchheim children attend such schools in Euskirchen and Bad Münstereifel .
Around 1950 and later there was still the Kirchheim elementary school , at which Mr. Salmon and Mr. Siebels worked as teachers and Ms. Innig and Ms. Hoffman as teachers. The local dean Joseph Emonds taught Catholic religious instruction.
