Roitzheim is a district of Euskirchen in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Roitzheim is located in the southeast of the city and borders directly on the industrial and commercial area EURO-Park . The districts of Stotzheim and Kuchenheim are in the immediate vicinity . On the outskirts, the federal highway 51 and the district road 24 pass, as well as the railway line of the Erfttalbahn . The Erft flows through the village .
history
In the Middle Ages the place was called Ruitzheim , Roixheim, Ruixem, Rüxheim or Ruexem. Around 1705 he was called Rukesheim , d. H. Home of the Ruko or Roco. Rukesheim was the name of the castle that formed the basis of the place. It was next to the church.
From 1816 Roitzheim belonged to the Kuchenheim mayor's office in the Rheinbach district and after its dissolution in 1932 it became part of the Euskirchen district.
Roitzheim is already referred to as a church in the Liber valoris . Parts of the tower and the northern wall of St. Stephen's Church date from the 12th and 13th centuries. In 1931 the church was significantly expanded. 1956 was renovated again.
The Tomberger Mühle east of the village on the Erftmühlenbach also belongs to Roitzheim . On July 1, 1969, Roitzheim was incorporated into Euskirchen .

Hiking trails
The Via Coloniensis from Cologne to Trier goes through Roitzheim. The Camino de Santiago then continues through France and Spain to Santiago de Compostela.
