history

Kotzenbach was in the domain of Neuhaus Castle . Neuhaus Castle was built by Landgrave Ulrich I von Leuchtenberg at the end of the 13th century and pledged to the Waldsassen Monastery from 1328. Kotzenbach was mentioned in a sales deed from 1423. The Landgrave Johann and Jorg von Leuchtenberg sold in parts of their property to the monastery Waldsassen . From 1515 the castle and its domain became the property of the Waldsassen monastery.

Kotzenbach belonged to the Neuhaus court from the 15th to the 17th century . Kotzenbach was listed in the Waldsassischen office directory 1560 with 6 teams, 1 brother, 1 hat man and shepherd.

Elector Ottheinrich introduced the Protestant denomination in his principality by decree in 1542 . In the years 1548 to 1571, the rule of the Waldsassen monastery gradually passed into the state sovereignty of the Electorate of the Palatinate. In the context of the reorganization of the church system in the entire Upper Palatinate carried out by Ottheinrich in 1558, Wurz became a parish in the superintendent of Tirschenreuth . The parish of Wurz comprised the villages of Kotzenbach, Pfaffenreuth, Mitteldorf, Rotzendorf, Walpersreuth, Eppenreith, Kahhof, Lamplmühle, Ernsthof, Stinkenbühl, Rotzenmühle, Wurmsgefäll, Geißenreuth. Your pastor was Michael Schiffendecker from Runneburg near Zwickau .

Wurz initially belonged to the Tirschenreuth Regional Court and was reclassified to the Neustadt an der Waldnaab Regional Court in 1857.

During the Counter Reformation , Wurz became Catholic again, Ottheinrich's ecclesiastical division was abolished and the situation before the Reformation was restored. Waldsassen Abbey was returned to the Cistercians in 1669 . The parish of Wurz was now part of the Nabburg deanery .

The official register of 1622 mentioned Kotzenbach with 6 teams and the tax book of 1630 with 4 farms, 1 estate and 1 house. In 1792 Kotzenbach had 5 subjects and in 1796 there were 34 penal residents.

Since 1808, Wurz was a municipality and tax district with the villages of Wurz, Kahhof, Kotzenbach, Lamplmühle and Pfaffenreuth. In 1978 the community of Wurz and its districts were incorporated into the community of Püchersreuth.
