history

In 1795 the master miller Johann Georg Krottenmüller, who gave the town its name and who did not own a mill at the time, received permission from the Royal Prussian War and Domain Chamber in Ansbach to build a mill on a field he had acquired near Heidenheim , although Heidenheim had objected to it. His father was in the 18th century in the gall mill near Heidenheim. In 1796 the Krottenmühle (Heidenheim house number 173) was built. It was driven by a spring on the Schilzberg. She had to make riches to the administration office of Heidenheim and to the Oberamt Hohentrüdingen, which held the high jurisdiction.

As a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , the Krottenmühle became royal Bavarian in 1806. In 1808, when the tax districts were formed , she came to the Heidenheim tax district in the Heidenheim district court . In 1810 the tax district was transformed into the somewhat smaller rural community of Heidenheim, which in turn belonged to the Krottenmühle. Through the municipal edict of 1818, Heidenheim became a municipality in the district court of the same name from 1808. In 1833, the Krottenmühle owned 5 hectares of arable land and 1.1 hectares of meadows as a mill property with mill rights with 1 grinding and 1 tanning process .

On July 1, 1862, the district court of Heidenheim became part of the district office (later the district) of Gunzenhausen , which was transformed into the larger district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen during the regional reform in Bavaria in 1971/72. On June 17, 1962, a fire almost completely destroyed the mill. From 1973 to 1975 a home of the school country home organization Middle Franconia was established near the former Krottenmühle. V. (Nuremberg), which was connected to State Road 2218 by a local road.
