Kreuzthal was founded as a royal colony in 1771 and had 20 colonist posts. The colony was named after Ehrenreich Bogislaus von Creutz (approx. 1670–1733), who was the Prussian minister of state and cabinet secretary under King Friedrich Wilhelm I. Accordingly, the place name was initially written Creutzthal . The first colonist houses were wooden huts. Since the colony was founded in the middle of the forest, the colonists first had to clear trees to make land. The colonists came from the neighboring villages of Schodnia and Krascheow. Each colonist site received 18 acres of fields and six acres of meadow. In 1783 the colonists received an additional six acres and in 1823 8.5 acres.

In 1819 a school was set up in the village. In 1845 there was a Catholic school and 49 other houses in the village. In the same year, 379 people lived in Kreuzthal, nine of them Protestants. In 1865, the place had 14 whole and twelve half colony positions, 21 farmhand positions, 13 residential farm positions, 24 residents and 25 migrants. At that time the Catholic school had 85 students. In 1874 the district of Krascheow was founded, which consisted of the rural communities of Antonia, Carmerau, Creutzthal, Hüttendorf, Krascheow and Schodnia and the manor district of Krascheow, chief forestry and the Malapane ironworks.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 59 eligible voters voted to remain in Germany and 228 to belong to Poland. Kreuzthal remained with the German Empire . In 1933 there were 568 inhabitants. In 1939 the place had 620 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .
