The Lohr & Becker Aktiengesellschaft (Founded LÖHR & BECKER as "Lohr & Becker, Coblenz 'own spelling) is one of the largest by revenue ten automotive trade groups in Germany . Currently operates Group 34 operational dealerships of the brands Volkswagen , Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles , Audi , Porsche , Skoda and Seat and Cupra at 13 locations in Rhineland-Palatinate , North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse , the headquarters is located in Koblenz . In 2016, the company reported sales of 569.47 million euros.

The group trades and rents out vehicles from the Volkswagen , Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles , Audi , Porsche , Škoda and Seat brands , deals in automotive spare parts and accessories, and operates automotive repair workshops in Koblenz , Trier , Mainz and Meckenheim .

history

Carl Löhr and Otto Becker founded the company Löhr & Becker, Coblenz in 1892, they sold bicycles and trained cyclists. From 1900 they sold motor vehicles from the Frankfurt Adlerwerke and issued driver's licenses. In 1911, in the newly built hall on the corner of Löhrstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse, car bodies were assembled according to customer requirements, and in the following years catering and ammunition cars for the imperial army were assembled.

After the First World War , the company added Buick and Chevrolet to its sales program, and trucks from MAN and Büssing for industry and trade .

After the factory was destroyed in World War II , the company repaired trucks on behalf of the French occupying forces. In 1948 the Volkswagen company became an authorized wholesaler, from 1951 Löhr & Becker took over sales for Porsche - around 30 dealers were supplied, and in 1954 the branch was founded in Andernach.

The company continued to expand in the 1960s, the later Volkswagen Zentrum Koblenz was established in Koblenz-Lützel in 1961 , the Löhr Automobile Braubach dealership was built on the right bank of the Rhine in 1967 , followed by Löhr Automobile Höhr-Grenzhausen in 1970. In 1973 the Auto-Union -Autohaus Georg Speith was incorporated into the company and the range of brands was expanded to include another vehicle manufacturer (later Audi ).

The Vornberger car dealership in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler was added to the growing group in 1982, and the Höfels workshop in Bad Breisig was added in 1983 . In 1988 the Porsche Center Koblenz and the world's first Audi Center in Koblenz were built and put into operation.

In 1992, in the 100th anniversary year, Löhr & Becker founded the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Center in Koblenz together with Koblenz car dealers. In 1994 the Thomas car dealership in Neuwied was taken over. The Gessner car dealership was incorporated in October 1997 and has been operating under the name Löhr Automobile Daun ever since. In 1998 the Lohrer car dealership in Bendorf was taken over.

The Junk car dealership with four branches in Trier was integrated into the group in 2001, in 2002 Löhr & Becker opened the Nahetal dealership in Idar-Oberstein and the name of Löhr & Becker GmbH & Co. KG was changed to Löhr & Becker Aktiengesellschaft. In 2003 the Skoda Löhr & Becker car dealership opened, in 2004 Auto-Kraft GmbH in Mainz was taken over and today's Volkswagen Center Trier was built and opened. in 2006 the company e + h müller Kraftfahrzeuge in Worms was integrated into the group.

In 2007, Toyota Löhr Automobile Koblenz and Lexus Forum Koblenz were integrated into the company, in 2008 the Toyota Löhr Automobile Wiesbaden and Lexus Forum Wiesbaden were opened, the dealership agreement was concluded with Porsche in Mainz and Löhr Sportfahrzeuge Vertriebs GmbH in Mainz founded. In the same year the groundbreaking ceremony for the Löhr Automeile in Mainz took place.

In 2009 the locations in Bad Breisig, Adenau and Braubach were closed, the Porsche Center Mainz and the Toyota Forum Mainz were opened on the Löhr Automeile Mainz. The Löhr Automeile in Mainz was completed in April 2010, the Audi Center Mainz and the Volkswagen Center Mainz were opened on the Automeile.

In January 2014, sales of Lexus were discontinued and the Škoda Center Wiesbaden was put into operation on the premises.

On November 1, 2015, Toyota Löhr Automobile Mainz was closed and the new used car center in Mainz was put into operation on the property; on December 31, 2015, Toyota Löhr Automobile Wiesbaden was also closed.

The Kempen dealership in Meckenheim, with four brands and the bodywork and paint center, has also been part of the Löhr Group since January 1, 2016, with the takeover of the Seat brand in the portfolio.

On February 1, 2016, sales of the Seat brand began on the premises of the Volkswagen Center Koblenz, and the trade agreement with Toyota and Toyota Löhr Automobile Koblenz ended on May 31. On December 1, 2016, sales of the Seat brand began at the Neuwied location.

On March 1, 2017, sales of the Seat brand began in Wiesbaden, and on March 1, 2017 the first Volkswagen Economy service center in Germany was reopened in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.
