history

Hinterwaldberg is located on the old mule track from Mittersill as a trading node over the Gerlospass (Pinzgauer Höhe) to Zell am Ziller . In 1631 it was expanded into a transport route. In 1962 the new Gerlos Alpine Road , which crossed Krimml and was planned by Franz Wallack , the builder of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, was opened . The Alte Gerlosstraße lost its importance.

Tourism and sightseeing

The Arnoweg runs through this village after crossing the Salzach at Orgler , coming from Hinterwaldberg . It then continues as an ascent to the Pinzgauer walk above Lahn and Vorderwaldberg .
