history

Hinterwaldberg is located on the old mule track from Mittersill as a trading node over the Gerlospass (Pinzgauer Höhe) to Zell am Ziller . In 1631 it was expanded into a transport route. In 1962 the new Gerlos Alpine Road leading through Krimml was opened, the Dipl.-Ing. Franz Wallack , the builder of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, had planned. The Alte Gerlosstraße (today L 133) lost its importance.

Tourism and sightseeing

The Arnoweg runs through this village after crossing the Salzach from Schloßberg at Orgler . It then continues as an ascent to the Pinzgau Walk above Lahn .
