The resort Lahrbach is a district of Tann (Rhön) in the Fulda district in East Hesse in the state of Hesse in the Federal Republic of Germany .

The hamlets Brauertshof and Paradieshof belong to Lahrbach .

Lahrbach located in the northeast of the district Fulda northeast of the Wasserkuppe in Ulster in the Rhön Nature Reserve in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve .

history

The village of Lahrbach was first mentioned in writing in the 15th century. At that time Lahrbach was a "wustenung" (desert), that is, an abandoned village. By 1500 the village was already settled again. The year 1523 is on the southern cornice of the old church. To the east of Lahrbach, an urn grave field from the Hallstatt period (800–500 BC) was found. In 1717 Lahrbach burned down to five houses after a lightning strike. In this fire disaster 120 houses burned down. In 1801 there were already 90 houses again, at that time Lahrbach was a parish village in Würzburg and was subject to Hilder's office. The volunteer fire brigade formed a fire fighting association with the city of Tann in 1877.

In 2015 the place was recognized as a resort .

Incorporation

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Tann.

The old Catholic fortified church of St. John the Baptist from 1607 and 1616 and the new church of St. Elisabeth are in the village . There is also a Marian grotto . The Catholic parish of St. John the Baptist Lahrbach belongs organizationally to Pastoralverbund "St. Michael Hohe Rhön ”of the diocese of Fulda .

Administrator of the parish of St. John the Baptist Lahrbach is currently (2017) Pastor Michael Möller. He is supported by retired pastor clergyman Council Klaus-Peter Jung.

Church history

In 1793 Lahrbach became an independent parish, which until 1803 belonged to the Würzburg chapter of Mellrichstadt. The church building, built between 1607 and 1616, was completely restored , like the historic Kirchner organ, which was built in 1828 by Johannes Kirchner from Euerdorf .

The Musikverein Lahrbach accompanies, among other things, the Palm Sunday processions, Ascension Day processions, plays at the village festival in Lahrbach or at the May market in Tann.

At the village community center there is a playground with two slides, sandpit, seesaw, climbing net, play combination with a wobbly bridge, two towers and a horizontal bar and swing.

Infrastructure

Lahrbach can be reached via the federal road 278 . There is a bus from Fulda. The Ulstertal Cycle Path runs through the village. It connects the Werra valley with the Hessian Rhön.
