The Lambrama district is located in the Abancay Province in the Apurímac region in the central south of Peru . The district was founded on August 23, 1838. It has an area of ​​526 km². The 2017 census counted 3169 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 4967, in 2007 it was 5043. The district administration is located in the 3111  m high village of Lambrama with 603 inhabitants (as of 2017). Lambrama is located about 30 km south-southeast of the provincial capital Abancay .

Geographical location

The Lambrama district is located in the Andean highlands in the central south of the Abancay province. It extends over the catchment area of the Río Lambrama, right tributary of the Río Pachachaca . The latter flows north along the northwestern district boundary.

The Lambrama district borders in the southwest on the Circa district , in the northwest on the Pichirhua district , in the north on the Abancay district , in the northeast on the Curahuasi district , in the east on the Gamarra district ( province of Grau ) and in the south on the Curpahuasi and districts Chuquibambilla (both also in the province of Grau).
