The Landecker Berg (also just called Landecker ) is 510.9  m above sea level. NN high mountain and one of the northernmost mountains of the low mountain range Rhön located in Bavaria , Hesse and Thuringia ( Germany ) or from their sub- mountain range Kuppenrhön in the districts of the communities Schenklengsfeld , Friedewald and Hohenroda in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district .

Geographical location

The Landecker Berg is located in the northern part of the Kuppenrhön or the Rhön Biosphere Reserve . The largest village on the mountain is Schenklengsfeld, which is located on its southwest side. Clockwise around the mountain follows the Schenklengsfeld district of Hilmes, the Friedewalder district of Hillartshausen and the districts of Ausbach and Ransbach of the Hohenroda community.

The Landecker Berg and its neighboring mountain Dreienberg to the north form part of the watershed between Fulda and Werra . The flowing waters that arise on the mountain flow from its east side into the Werra and from its west side to the Fulda.

Between Schenklengsfeld and Ransbach, the Hersfeld Kreisbahn drove south past Landecker Berg until 1989 . The Friedewald − Dreienberg − Landecker Berg − Schenklengsfeld − Soisberg section of the E6 European long-distance hiking trail runs over the mountain .

geology

The mesa is composed of limestone , which during the triad in a flat sea on Upper red sandstone formed. The mountain consists largely of corrugated limestone and is geologically exactly the same as its smaller neighboring mountain in the north, the Dreienberg .

The upper layer on the high plateau is formed by upper wavy limestone. Below that, the lower wavy limestone forms the slopes of the mountain. In the Miocene , the red sandstone with the shell limestone on top was vaulted through volcanic activity in the Rhön.

Mountain description

The highest point on the plateau of Table Mountain Landecker Berg is in the northern part of the mountain range. A long terrain spur ( 435  m above sea level ) extends east into the valley between Ausbach and Ransbach . On it there is a nature reserve that includes the forest area and its peripheral areas. Another pronounced terrain spur on the tip of which the Landeck castle ruins are located above Oberlengsfeld, extends towards the southwest. In the south, the Kreuzberg ( 457.2  m ) is in front of the main massif. The saddle in between reaches a maximum height of 432  m .

In the north-south direction, the Landecker Berg, which is largely overgrown by dense beech forest, is around 4.5 kilometers in length, in the west-east direction it is around 2 kilometers.

Transport links

The Landecker Berg is only accessible via forest, forest and hiking trails. This can be reached on the district roads that branch off a few kilometers north of the mountain, in the Friedewald area, from the B 62 to the south. Continue on the state roads (including "L 3341" and "L 3172"), which branch off from the B 27 in the Haunetal to the east and pass the Landecker Berg via Schenklengsfeld to the south to meet the B 62 again in the Werra valley.
