Landolin Ohmacht
Landolin Ohmacht , also Landelin Ohmacht or Landolin Ohnmacht or Landelin Ohnmacht , (born November 11, 1760 in Dunningen , † March 31, 1834 in Strasbourg ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Landolin Ohnmacht trained as a wood carver in Triberg in the Black Forest in 1772 , presumably with Joseph Kaltenbach (1735–1805). He then worked in Freiburg im Breisgau , then - supported by his future father-in-law - in the studio of the sculptor Johann Peter Melchior in Frankenthal (Palatinate) and then in Mannheim . Ohmacht worked in Switzerland from 1788 to 1790. In Basel he made several miniature busts and relief portraits from alabaster, a. a. by Peter Ochs . After short stays in Rome , Frankfurt am Main , Vienna , Munich , Dresden and Hamburg , he finally settled in Strasbourg. In 1798 he married Sophie Gassner, the daughter of the mayor of Rottweil .
