Lars Müller (born March 22, 1976 in Werne ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach. Since January 2017 he has been training the national division team Werner SC .

Career

society

In his youth he played for the soccer department of Sportfreunde Werne-West , a sports club based in his birthplace, before he was signed by the Bundesliga club and reigning champions Borussia Dortmund through SV Herbern and Hammer SpVg in 1995 . He made his Bundesliga debut on April 6, 1996 (26th matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the home game against Werder Bremen , when he came on for Lars Ricken in the 77th minute . After only being used once there in his second year, he moved to second division KFC Uerdingen 05 for three seasons and then to league rivals Alemannia Aachen for two . From 2001/02 to 2005/06 he played for 1. FC Nürnberg , including one season in the 2. Bundesliga, and was a regular in midfield there. For the 2006/07 season he moved to the second division FC Augsburg , where he took over the captaincy in the 2008/09 season . After the end of the 2008/09 season , Müller was not considered under the new coach in Augsburg and thus did not receive a new contract. In the summer of 2009, he therefore presented himself to the association of contract football players in training to find a new employer. He then moved to the northeast German league club RB Leipzig , with whom he rose as a champion in the Regionalliga Nord in 2010.

National team

Lars Müller played nine international matches for the U-21 national team. His debut on April 23, 1996 in Sittard , in a 2-0 win against the Dutch hosts, he crowned - after his substitution for Thomas Brdarić - with his first international goal. He played his last international match on May 29, 1998 in Bucharest , in a 2-0 win over Romania in the game for fifth place in the European Championship in Romania .

Trainer and functionary

From the 2011/12 season, Müller was the player-coach of the Hammer Spielvereinigung in the Westfalenliga 1 for a year and a half . After his release in November 2012, he took over the post of sporting director until the end of the season. In January 2017 he took over as head coach of the national division Werner SC .
