Leiffarth looks back on hundreds of years of history. In 1390 Burgundian troops destroyed Borberg Castle in Leiffarth.

During the Second World War , Leiffarth was fiercely contested. A drawing of the destroyed Leiffarth shows the cover picture of the first edition of the book "The Battle of Germany" by Theodore Draper, published in January 1946.

religion

The vast majority of the Leiffarther people belong to the Roman Catholic Church and thus to the parish of St. Gereon in Würm. The Catholic Church also has a significant impact on social life in Leiffarth and neighboring Würm (e.g. Catholic kindergarten, Catholic primary school, shooting brotherhoods, Catholic women's community). Protestant residents of Leiffarth belong to the Protestant parish of Randerath.

economy

Leiffarth has the essential offers for daily needs (e.g. shoemaker, bank) and some medium-sized businesses in the trade. Agriculture is also practiced on a small scale . The immediate transition of the development to Würm indirectly adds additional facilities (e.g. day care center, carpenter, gas / water / electrical installation companies, hairdressers and others).

Public facilities

The Würm fire fighting unit of the volunteer fire brigade of the city of Geilenkirchen is stationed in Leiffarth . The fire station was built in 2002 and is located on Linderner Strasse.
