Bocket is the smallest district of the medium- sized town of Geilenkirchen in the Heinsberg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Bocket is about three kilometers west of Geilenkirchen. Nearby is NATO - Air Base Geilenkirchen stationed.

Waters

During heavy rain and when snowmelts , the surface water (GEBKZ 28182211) flows from the Bocket, Panneschopp and Nierstraß area towards Gillrath to Rodebach (GEWKZ 281822) and then further into the Maas .

Place name

The place name Bocket has been used since 1812.

Local history

Bocket is a small district that was only created in the 19th century. Bocket is not yet listed in the description of the Royal Prussian Rhine Province from 1830. The first name can be found on the new recording from 1912, where the place is entered with Bocket . The name of the corridor in the district is called Bockes Gewand . Little is known about the history of the place.

In the course of the regional reform on January 1, 1972, Bocket stayed with the city of Geilenkirchen.

Church history

The parish of St. Willibrord Teveren is made up of the towns of Teveren with Bocket, Neuteveren and partly Panneschopp. The majority of the population consists of Catholics .

In the course of the parish reforms in the Diocese of Aachen , the formerly independent Catholic parish of St. Willibrord Teveren was incorporated into the Community of Parishes (GdG) St. Bonifatius Geilenkirchen .

According to § 3 (1) j) of the main statute of the city of Geilenkirchen, the places Teveren and Bocket form a city district. He is represented by a local mayor in the city council of Geilenkirchen. The head of the district is Hans Josef Paulus. Stand 2013
