Lenny Von Dohlen (born December 22, 1958 in Augusta , Georgia ) is an American actor .

Life

Von Dohlen attended the University of Texas at Austin and then studied acting at the Michael Chekhov Studio in New York City . He began his career in theater in 1977 and played in Denver as Romeo in a production of Romeo and Juliet . In 1981 he had a minor supporting role in the Emmy- winning television movie Death on Campus , and two years later he starred alongside Robert Duvall and Tess Harper in the two Academy Award-winning drama Comeback der Liebe . Then he got his first leading role in 1984. However, the comedy film Electric Dreams by Steve Barron with music by Giorgio Moroder and Jeff Lynne flopped at the box office. In 1986 he played the title role in the film drama Billy Galvin alongside Karl Malden and Joyce Van Patten and in 1988 he starred alongside Sylvia Kristel in the horror film Dracula's Widow .

In 1990 he presented in David Lynch's mystery series Twin Peaks , the role of of agoraphobia sufferer gardener Harold Smith is that he in 1992 based on the feature film series Twin Peaks - The Movie repeated. In the same year he was seen in a supporting role in the thriller Jennifer 8 with Uma Thurman . He had another lead role in 1996 in the thriller For Free Is Only Death alongside James Remar , the following year he played one of the villains in the comedy Home Alone Again . From the 1990s Von Dohlen was increasingly seen in television productions, he had guest roles in television series such as Walker, Texas Ranger , Picket Fences - Tatort Gartenzaun and Chicago Hope - Endstation Hope ; between 1999 and 2000 he played the recurring role of Mr. Cox in the series Pretender .

Von Dohlen is divorced and has a daughter.
