Li Yuanchao

Li Yuanchao ( Chinese  李源潮 , Pinyin Lǐ Yuáncháo ; born April 1950 in Lianshui , Jiangsu Province ) is a Chinese communist politician. Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party since 2007 , he was appointed Vice President of the People's Republic of China on March 14, 2013 .

Life

Li is a graduate of East China Normal University and Fudan University . After serving in the Communist Youth League and from 2002 to 2007 as party secretary of the CCP in Jiangsu, from 2007 to November 2012 he was the head of the organization department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party .

On March 14, 2013, he was appointed deputy to the newly elected President Xi Jinping by the National People's Congress .
