Limbach is a district of the municipality of Hünstetten in the Rheingau-Taunus district in southern Hesse .
geography
Limbach is located in the Taunus north of the main ridge between Limburg and the state capital Wiesbaden . The federal highway 417 runs to the east at a short distance from the town . Today's federal highway was known as Hühnerstrasse around 1000 and was an important trade route . State road 3275 runs through the village . The chicken church is located at the intersection of these two streets .
history
The village was first mentioned in 1287. The place was owned by various monasteries. The Protestant church was built in the 16th century. One school is mentioned in 1781.
On December 31, 1971, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the former municipalities of Beuerbach, Kesselbach, Ketternschwalbach, Limbach, Strinz-Trinitatis and Wallbach voluntarily merged to form the new municipality of Hünstetten. Local districts with local advisory councils and local councilors were formed for all formerly independent communities . In the centrally located Wallbach, a new building complex was built for the municipal administration.
Not far from the village is a former American ammunition depot. The Hessian Police School has meanwhile moved into the approximately 340,000 m² property with over 20 bunkers.
coat of arms
The coat of arms consists of a blue shield, which is divided by a sloping silver bar from top right to bottom left. In the upper half there is a golden wreath of leaves, in the lower half there are three golden flowers.
