Lindon Selahi (born February 26, 1999 in Namur ) is a Belgian - Albanian football player who has been under contract with the Dutch honorary division club FC Twente Enschede since July 2019 . The midfielder has been an Albanian international since October 2019 .

Career

The in Walloon Namur born Lindon Selahi is the son of an Albanian family from northern Macedonia , consisting of Kumanovo comes and began at the age of four years in his hometown when CAPS Namur playing football. In his youth he also played for Sportive Jamboise and UR Namur before joining Standard Liège's youth department for the first time in 2011 . After playing for RSC Anderlecht from 2014 to 2016 , he returned to Standard Liège. In early June 2016, Selahi signed his first professional contract with the Rouches . On May 10, 2018 (8th matchday of the play-offs) he made his debut in the top Belgian division in a 3-1 home win against RSC Anderlecht . He was on the starting line-up, but was replaced by Carlinhos at half-time . This should be his only one for Standard, because he did not make another appearance with the pros this season 2017/18 or the next season 2018/19 .

On June 6, 2019, Selahi joined the Dutch honorary division club FC Twente Enschede on a free transfer , where he signed a two-year contract with an option for another. On August 3, 2019 (1st matchday), he made his debut for his new club in a 1-1 draw against PSV Eindhoven . Under the head coach Gonzalo García García , he quickly developed as a regular player. He scored his first goal of the season on October 25, 2019 (11th matchday) in a 4-1 home win against FC Emmen . This 2019/20 season he played 25 league games in which he scored two goals and one assist .

National team

Selahi could have played for Albania, Belgium , Kosovo or North Macedonia due to his origins . He played twice for the Belgian U16 national team in 2014 . From 2015 he ran for the Albanian U17 selection .

Between May 2018 and March 2019, he played five international matches for the U21s .

On October 14, 2019, he made his debut in a 4-0 away win against the Republic of Moldova for the Albanian national team in qualifying for the 2020 European Championship , when he came on as a substitute for Keidi Bare in the closing stages .
