List of communities in the district of Heidenheim
The list of municipalities in the district of Heidenheim gives an overview of the eleven smallest administrative units in the district . It consists of eleven parishes , four of which are cities . Heidenheim an der Brenz is a medium-sized town , the other three, Giengen an der Brenz , Herbrechtingen and Niederstotzingen , are small towns . The district of Heidenheim is the district with the fewest communities in Baden-Württemberg.
The Oberamt Heidenheim was renamed the Heidenheim district in 1934 and in 1938 the Heidenheim district was expanded to include some communities from the dissolved Neresheim district and some places from the Ulm district . Since then, the boundaries of the district have hardly changed. During the district reform in 1973 , the only change was that a hamlet, which previously belonged to the Ulm district, was incorporated into the district. In 1974 Sontbergen , which belongs to the municipality of Bräunisheim ( Alb-Donau district ), was incorporated into the municipality of Gerstetten , which meant that both the municipality and the district and administrative district boundaries had to be moved. The year in which they joined the municipality is noted for the suburbs of the municipalities.
