This is a list of the islands in Gambia .

All islands on the territory of Gambia are listed. With the exception of the Bijol Islands , all inland islands are in the Gambia river or are located in its mouth ( estuary ) to the Atlantic Ocean . The islands are listed according to their order in the Gambia River - from the upper reaches to the Atlantic.

7th Baboon Islands CRR The 585 hectare archipelago that forms the River Gambia National Park . The park is not open to the public; chimpanzees have been released here.

11 Pasul Island CRR With the small town of Kudang Tenda , a small part of which is used for agriculture.

17th Elephant Island LRR One of the larger islands in the river. This is where the brackish water zone begins. The island takes its name from the numerous hippos to be found.

22nd Lamin Island GBA Island in the mangrove forest Tanbi Wetland Complex .
23 Daranka Island GBA Island in the mangrove forest Tanbi Wetland Complex .
24 Chitabong Island GBA Island in the mangrove forest Tanbi Wetland Complex .
25th St. Mary's Island GBA Banjul , the capital of the Gambia, is located on the island . The island is connected to the mainland by the Denton Bridge .
26th Jinack Island NBR Immediately on the coast, Jinack is part of the Niumi National Park .

27 Bijol Islands WCR The only offshore island group in Gambia is part of the Tanji Bird Reserve .
