List of classical archaeologists at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of classical archaeologists at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg includes all professors who have taught or are teaching classical archeology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg .

When Joseph Anselm Feuerbach was appointed to the "Philological Seminar", archeology was taught in Freiburg for the first time in 1836. After his death, however, the position remained vacant for decades. With the appointment of Franz Studniczka as full professor on February 19, 1889, the "Archaeological Institute" was founded as an independent institution at the University of Freiburg. Since January 2008, all archaeological sub-disciplines represented at the University of Freiburg have jointly formed the Institute for Archaeological Sciences . The former Archaeological Institute is now the Department of Classical Archeology .
