List of cultural assets in Moutier

The list of cultural assets in Moutier contains all objects in the municipality of Moutier in the canton of Bern that are subject to the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict , the Federal Act of June 20, 2014 on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and the Ordinance of 29 June 2014 October 2014 on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict .

Objects in categories A and B are completely included in the list, objects in category C are currently missing (as of January 1, 2018). Among other monuments protected objects are found, the "worthy of protection" in the canton of Bern Bauinventar than are listed.

Romanesque style chapel built in the 11th century and the only remnant of the village of Chalière, which was abandoned after a plague epidemic . It is one of the oldest preserved sacred buildings in the Jura and once belonged to the Moutier-Grandval monastery . The simple floor plan consists of a rectangular nave with an apse that is raised by a roof turret. The interior is decorated with valuable wall paintings.

School building built in 1904 in the Heimat style. The two wings of the building are arranged around a distinctive main structure with recesses and a mansard roof , which is provided with a dome and is dominated by a bulbous roof turret with a narrow tip. The framed row windows represent a neo-Gothic decorative interpretation. A special feature is the coffered ceiling in the southern stairwell.

This reformed church building, built between 1860 and 1863 , is a reconstruction of a Romanesque church from the early 12th century. The foundations were taken from the previous building and the original materials were reused, but the floor plan shows differences. A promenade was built in place of the earlier convent building.

Originally built as a school in 1835, it has been used as the town hall since 1962 and is a prestigious building under a crooked hip roof in the neoclassical style of French style. A roof turret with a clockwork and pointed helmet rises above the central gable . The white facades are soberly framed with smooth limestone . The central projection has sloping arcades that frame a monumental front staircase. A classical fountain stands on the paved forecourt .

The "Villa Bechler", built in 1903, has been the location of an art museum since 1903 . The building has a striking mansard roof with a semi-octagonal projection to the south. Iron work such as the curved parapet of the balcony or the western entrance door that leads to a glazed awning are remarkable . Inside there are several stucco ceilings , two of which are decorated with landscape paintings. In the extensive park on the east side there is a covered pergola with a Tuscan colonnade.

The factory building , built in 1911 in the Heimat style, is an important testimony to the regional industrial architecture . The original building and its extension, flanked by two transverse pavilions, are provided with flat roofs and have yellow-ocher-colored facades, which are structured with relief arches and pillars. The stairwell in the administration pavilion is decorated with multicolored Art Nouveau tiles.

In 1911 the former Tornos Holding lathe factory was built according to plans by Eduard Rybi and Ernst Salchli . Its load-bearing structure made of reinforced concrete forms a hall that is open to the roof and illuminated by skylights . In this way, the hall offers great flexibility in an aesthetic environment. The outbuildings are in the style of the New Building .

The art museum located in Villa Bechler since 1993 , which mainly deals with works by artists from the Bernese Jura and the canton of Jura . The collection goes back to an association founded in 1953 that held regular exhibitions from 1955 onwards.
