List of stumbling blocks in Augsburg
The list of stumbling blocks in Augsburg contains all the stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Augsburg as part of the art project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Augsburg.
The first two stumbling blocks were laid on private property on May 26, 2014. Gunter Demnig was able to lay for the first time on public streets and squares in Augsburg on May 4, 2017. On that day, 13 stumbling blocks were laid for twelve victims and two so-called “ memory tapes ” for five victims were installed by the Augsburg memorial workshop. Another 11 stumbling blocks were planned to be laid on October 14, 2017, eight of which were rejected by the City of Augsburg's Department of Culture.
In a fourth action in Augsburg on July 14, 2018, Demnig laid three more stumbling blocks in public space. The laying of two more stones was refused by the city because the victims had survived the Nazi regime.
