List of stumbling blocks in Stadtlauringen
This list of stumbling blocks in Stadtlauringen contains the stumbling blocks that were laid as part of the art project of the same name by Gunter Demnig in the Lower Franconian market town of Stadtlauringen . A brass plaque is anchored on the top of each of the concrete blocks with an edge length of ten centimeters, which are embedded in the sidewalks in front of the former homes of the victims. This provides information about the names, year of birth and fate of the people who are to be remembered.
The Hirschberger couple are the only residents of Stadtlauringen who perished in the Holocaust. There are 13 from the neighboring town of Oberlauringen , today a part of the municipality of Markt Stadtlauringen. There was a large Jewish community there, whose cemetery still exists today. According to the initiators of the stumbling block laying in Stadtlauringen, no actions are planned in Oberlauringen (as of 2011).
