List of stumbling blocks in Lichtenfels (Upper Franconia)

The list of stumbling blocks in Lichtenfels (Upper Franconia) contains stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Lichtenfels (Upper Franconia) as part of the art project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Lichtenfels. In two relocations since November 2018, a total of 25 stumbling blocks have been laid.

Alfred Oppenheimer was born on January 23, 1903 in Königshofen and lived in Lichtenfels. Alfred Oppenheimer ran a textile business at Innere Bamberger Straße 14 that he had taken over from his father. (now Mode Deuerling) Alfred Oppenheimer was arrested with his mother and wife before they could flee to the USA. In May 1939 they tried to put valuables aside for the planned emigration. Because currency offense they have been sentenced to prison terms. He was deported from Würzburg to Krasnystaw on April 25, 1942 .

Paul Zinn was born in 1887 as the son of Sigmund Zinn. He was arrested during the November pogroms in 1938 . He then poisoned himself with a disinfectant and died two weeks later in the Hochstadt Hospital.

After her husband died in September 1938 and the children had left Germany, she fled with the Cap Arcona to her sons in Argentina in April 1939 . She died on February 3, 1955 in Buenos Aires.

Arnold Seliger was a teacher in Lichtenfels. After the death of his wife Sofie, he had to move to Leipzig , where he died in May 1941 in a Jewish hospital.

Carl Kraus lived here

Carl Kraus ran a textile trade at 21 Marktplatz. Since 1924 he was a member of the city council, board member of the Bavarian Textile Retail Association and chairman of the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde. In 1933 he was expelled from the city council and his shop was looted during the November pogroms. He himself was arrested and driven to the synagogue. In 1939 he had to forcibly sell his house. He died in January 1940 and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Lichtenfels.
