Oberlangenstadt is a district of the market town of Küps in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .

geography

The place is about one kilometer west of the historic center of Küps at an altitude of 284  m above sea level. NN in the valley of the Rodach , from which the Mühlgraben branches off to the right . The foothills of the Franconian Forest rise to the northeast .

history

Oberlangenstadt was first mentioned in 1367. Philipp Heinrich von Künsberg built the first small castle in 1718.

The Bavarian cadastre shows Oberlangenstadt in the 1810s as a village with 62 hearths, Oberlangenstadt Castle , a mill with a mill weir and several bridges. In 1862 the rural community of Oberlangenstadt was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Kronach . It consisted of three places, the village of Oberlangenstadt as the capital and the two hamlets of Nagel and Hummenberg. In 1871 the main town had 537 inhabitants. The evangelical church was in Küps and the evangelical denominational school was in town.

On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Oberlangenstadt, consisting of the towns of Oberlangenstadt, Hummenberg and Nagel, was incorporated into the Küps market.

A total of nine architectural monuments are listed in the Bavarian list of monuments . In addition to the castle from the 18th and 19th centuries, there are six residential buildings, a fountain and the former country school.
