List of stumbling blocks in Guntersblum
The list of stumbling blocks in Guntersblum includes the existing memorial stones that have been relocated to Guntersblum as part of the Stolpersteine project by the artist Gunter Demnig .
After stumbling blocks were laid in more than 300 towns in Germany, Austria, Hungary and the Netherlands since 2003 and the town of Guntersblum can look back on a long history of its Jewish roommates, the local council of Guntersblum also approved in 2010, in memory of former citizens Those who were deported, murdered or forced to flee from Germany in the Third Reich are honored with such a memorial stone. These small brass cuboids with the engraving of the name, the dates of life and the fate are located in front of the last vacant house of the person concerned and were put into the sidewalk by the artist himself.
For this purpose, the project group Association for the Preservation of Guntersblumer Kulturgutes e. V. , who took over the organizational responsibility for research, contact with descendants, implementation and maintenance. The project group received financial support from numerous private individuals, the local workers' welfare association , various parties as well as the Protestant parish and the Guntersblum fire department. On April 2, 2011, the first laying of a total of 23 stones took place in the presence of the artist, the politicians, the project group, the sponsors and some descendants of the families concerned. At the same time, the project group published illustrated documentation in which the individual fates of the victims from Guntersblum are discussed in detail.

Johann Maurer , born on January 9, 1897 in Guntersblum, son of a Reichsbahn employee, was not a Jew. He was a volunteer in the First World War and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class and the Hessian Medal of Bravery . In 1933, Maurer joined SA Reserve II , the former Stahlhelm Organization . From 1935 he lived with his wife and daughter as a dispatcher in Guntersblum. He was denounced because of possible or actual anti-subversive critical statements and was first placed in protective custody in Mainz and was deported to the Buchenwald concentration camp in 1944 and murdered there. |

Eugen Wolf , born on January 2, 1893 in Planig , banker in Dresden . After the death of his father, he initially took over his viticulture and, after his marriage to Johanna Mann, his father-in-law's winery in Guntersblum. In 1938 the family had to sell their house and business. Eugen Wolf had already received an affidavit for a visa from a cousin in the USA and intended to live temporarily in Great Britain with his other cousin Max Wolf while he had to wait for the American visa. Betty Liebmann , born on May 19, 1883 in Heidelberg . Second wife of the dealer Simon Liebmann, who brought the sons Siegfried and Ludwig into the marriage. After her husband's death, Betty Liebmann lived with her stepson Ludwig in the house at Hauptstrasse 60. After both had to sell the house in 1939, they first moved to Heidelberg, from where Ludwig fled via Switzerland and Italy to the USA to his already there living brother Siegfried succeeded.
