7337 inhabitants (March 31, 2020) live on the Margarethenhöhe in an area of 1.48 km². The district belongs to the district III Essen-West. Margarethenhöhe, together with Haarzopf and Fulerum, forms the postcode district 45149.
Starting in the north, the district is bounded clockwise as follows:
Borbecker Mühlenbach to Frohnhausen and Holsterhausen , the streets Külshammerweg, Lührmannwald, Lührmannstraße and Juistweg to Rüttenscheid , the Norbertstraße to Bredeney and Schuir and the Kesselbach to Haarzopf and Fulerum .
The Margarethenhöhe district consists of the actual garden city settlement Margarethenhöhe and a southern part that was built in the 1960s. All the streets here were named after German North Sea
islands : Baltrumweg, Borkumstraße, Helgolandring, Juistweg, Langeoogweg, Memmertweg, Norbertstraße, Norderneyweg, Spiekeroogweg and Wangeroogeweg.
There are 50 designated traffic areas on Margarethenhöhe, including four squares. Of these, four streets are only partially in the district:
the Hohlweg continues in Holsterhausen, the Lührmannstraße in Rüttenscheid, and the Külshammerweg forms the border with Rüttenscheid. A small part of the street Spielkampshof is also in Haarzopf .
