List of disengaged churches in the Evangelical Church in Central Germany

The list of decommissioned churches in the Evangelical Church in Central Germany shows church buildings of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany and its predecessor churches that have been closed, de-dedicated or rededicated. Most of them have been or will be sold, rebuilt or demolished.

  • Bad Frankenhausen , Upper Church : Dedicated in 1962
  • Benndorf , church: demolished in 1955 due to open-cast lignite mining
  • Billroda , St. Martin Church: derelict in the GDR, demolished in 1988
  • Dedeleben , St. Johannis Church: last service in 1952, abandoned in 1972, now in ruins
  • Dittichenrode , St.-Marien-und-Anna-Kirche : built in the 15th century, decommissioned in 1968 due to dilapidation, re-consecrated in 2008 after reconstruction
  • Eisenach , Kreuzkirche : built in 1697, used as an Evangelical Lutheran church until 1867, later profaned, re-used as an archive for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia
  • Frohse , St. Laurentii Church : Dedicated in 1979, then used as a building yard, in 2014 the separated chancel was re-inaugurated as a place of worship
  • Gardelegen , Nikolaikirche : Dedicated in 1977, re-use for cultural events
  • Geiselröhlitz , church: demolished in 1964 due to open-cast lignite mining
  • Halle (Saale) , St. Stephen's Church : built 1891–93, profaned after the Second World War, used from 1968 to 2014 as a library storage facility
  • Halle (Saale), Ulrich Church : built from mid-14th century, used church until 1971, when since 1976 concert hall used
  • Hettstedt , district of Kupferberg, St. Gangolf Church: abandoned by the parish in 1972, de-dedicated, today used for cultural events
  • Kahla , St. Nicholas Chapel: built around 1490, sold to a Catholic parish in 1986
  • Kleinkayna , church: demolished in the 1960s due to open-cast brown coal mining
  • Klepzig , St. Pankratius Church: abandoned in the GDR, reconstruction since 1995
  • Langenstein , St. Nikolai Church: built in 1888, blown up in 1977 on the instructions of the GDR authorities
  • Lutherstadt Wittenberg , Augusteum : Dedicated in 2012
  • Magdeburg , St. Johannis Church : 1961 partially blocked by the building police, in 1968 given away by the church to the city, today used as the city's ballroom and concert hall
  • Möckerling , church: demolished in the 1960s due to open-cast lignite mining
  • Mühlhausen , All Saints Church : today used as a museum gallery
  • Mühlhausen, St. Crucis Church (Kornmarktkirche) : profaned in 1802, today used as a museum
  • Mühlhausen, Jakobikirche : profaned in 1832, today used as a city library
  • Mühlhausen, Marienkirche : Secularized in 1975, since then used as a museum
  • Naundorf , church: demolished in 1956 due to open-cast lignite mining
  • Neubiendorf , church: in ruins and is for sale
  • Niemegk , church: demolished around 1978 due to open-cast lignite mining
  • Nottleben , church: the nave of the church fell into ruin during the GDR era, the roof was removed in 1985/86, the tower has been preserved, the ship is being rebuilt
  • Oebisfelde , Nicolaikirche : built in 1896, used by the church until 1977, today used for cultural events
  • Polleben , St. Stephen's Church: built 1899–1901, officially closed in 1972, since 1994 under renovation by the Friends' Association
  • Prester , Immanuelkirche : built in 1832, used by the church until 1983, today used as the “Die Kirche” restaurant
  • Stöbnitz , church: sold to private
  • Wernigerode , Liebfrauenkirche : rebuilt in 1756 and 1762 after destruction, sold in 2018 and rededicated on February 3, 2019. Should be used as a concert church.
  • Zeitz , St. Nicolai Church : consecrated in 1891, still used in the 1950s, today in ruins
  • Zorbau , church: demolished between 1965 and 1975 due to open-cast brown coal mining
