Lito Sheppard Decorian (* 8. April 1981 in Jacksonville , Florida ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the cornerbacks . He last played for the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL), but is currently without a club.

college

Lito Sheppard played college football at the University of Florida . During his time there, he was All-American twice , playing 22 games in three seasons, scoring eight interceptions and 87 tackles . He carried back 27 kickoffs for 472 yards (22.5 yards per return).

NFL

Philadelphia Eagles

In the 2002 NFL Draft , Sheppard was selected in the first round as the 26th player by the Philadelphia Eagles . In 2004 Lito Sheppard had five interceptions, including two that he carried back to touchdowns. He was named Defensive Player of the Month for November after returning two interceptions to touchdowns. Sheppard was first elected to the Pro Bowl in 2004.

2005 was the first of three injury-filled seasons for Sheppard. He missed six games and ended the seasons with three interceptions.

On October 8, 2006, Sheppard became the first player in NFL history to carry back two interceptions for more than 100 yards. He scored both interceptions against division rivals Dallas Cowboys .

Lito Sheppard injured his shoulder during the Eagles' Wild Card Game against the New York Giants on January 7th. He missed the next play-off game against the New Orleans Saints , which the Eagles lost 27-24.

In the 2007 season, Sheppard was injured against the Green Bay Packers and had another season with many injuries. He ended the season with only two interceptions.

In the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles were able to sign former New England Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel . This fueled speculation that Sheppard was now available through a trade.

During the 2008 season, Sheppard was used less often due to the good results of the two starting cornerbacks Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown .

New York Jets

Sheppard was traded to the New York Jets on February 27, 2009 . The Eagles received the five-round pick of the New York Jets of the NFL Draft 2009 and a conditional pick in the 2010 Draft. He was surprisingly released on March 4, 2010 after just one year.

Minnesota Vikings

In late 2010, Sheppard signed with the Minnesota Vikings for a year . The contract is worth around two million US dollars.

Private

Sheppard is the cousin of current Denver Broncos wide receiver Jabar Gaffney , who played for the Eagles during the preseason.

He is also called "Cowboy Killer" because he made a lot of interceptions against the Dallas Cowboys . He often carried them back to touchdowns. In eleven games against the Cowboys, Sheppard scored eight interceptions.
