Livermore Falls is a town in Androscoggin County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there lived 3187 inhabitants in 1534 households on an area of 52.9 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Livermore Falls has a total area of 52.89 km², of which 50.97 km² is land and 1.92 km² consists of water .
Geographical location
Livemore Falls is located northeast of Androscoggin County. The Androscoggin River forms the western boundary of Livemore Falls to Livermore. There are several lakes in the town area, the largest being Mooose Hill Pond to the north . The highest point in Livemore Falls is the 339 m high Moose Hill north of Moose Hill Pond . Several small rivers flow mostly in a westerly direction through the town. All flow into the Androscoggin River.

City structure
In Livemore Falls there are several settlement areas, in the northwest on the Androscoggin River is the largest settlement in the town, the Village Livermore Falls . Shy Corner (also Shuy Corner) is just south of it . Other settlements include: Brown's Mills (formerly a post office, later called East Livermore Mills), Haines Corner , Moose Hill , Norlands (former railway station), Shuy (former railway station) and Strickland (Stricklands, Strickland's Ferry).

history
Settlement of the Livermore area began in the 1770s under the name Port Royal . The area was named after Deacon Elijah Livermore, one of the first settlers in the area. First, the area of today's Town Livermore was given together with the area of Livermore Falls in 1795 with the rights of a town and on March 1, 1844 Livermore Falls was separated from this area and founded as an independent town.
In the early 19th century, the region was mainly used for agriculture, there were apple orchards and dairies. In the mid-19th century, shoe and paper mills were established, including the Umbagog Pulp Company , founded by Hugh J. Chisholm . In 1897 the third bridge was built over the Androscoggin River . At 800 feet (244 meters) in length, it was the longest single span bridge in New England at the time .

In a north-south direction, Main State Route 133 runs through Livermore Falls. The Maine State Route 106 also coming from the south, joins the State Route 133. At the height of Shy Corner cross the west to the east running Maine State Route 17 , which leaves the town towards Jay.
Public facilities
There is a nursing station in Livermore Falls. Additional hospitals are located in Canton and Farmington.
education
Together with Jay and Livermore, Livermore Falls is part of the Spruce Mountain School District or Regional School Unit # 73 . In Livermore is the Spruce Mountain Primary School with classes from kindergarten through second grade. The Spruce Mountain Elementary School is located as well as the Spruce Mountain Middle School and the Spruce Mountain High School in Jay.
The Treat Memorial Library is located in Livermore Falls. The Livermore Falls Library Association was founded on November 23, 1899.
