Greene is a town in Androscoggin County in the state of Maine in the United States . In Greene there are 4,350 inhabitants in 1,880 households on an area of ​​91.1 km² (status: 2010 census).

Greene is located in the heavily forested hill country of southern Maine. Important elevations are Clarke Mountain (208 m), Merrill Hill (204 m) and Little Sabbatus Mountain (160 m). On April 20, 1852, part of the area was returned to Lewiston's administration; on February 7, 1895 another part was given to the Town Sabattus (then Webster).
