Sabattus is located in the southeast of Androscoggin County, on the south bank of Sabattus Ponds. history

The city of Sabattus was first incorporated on March 21, 1788 under the name Webster . Sabattus originally belonged to the Town of Bowdoin. The area of ​​the town was divided in 1840 and the northern part became the town of Webster, the southern part under the name Lisbon. The first settler in the area was Robert Ross from Brunswick. He lives in the area that still bears his name today. The first mill was built when Timothy moved to Weymouth in 1774. He built them for Jesse Davies.

It was named after a leader of the Indian tribe who lived in the area. Just before the first settlers entered the city, the tribe moved on. Originally only the lake, the river and a small mountain bore the name of the city. The spelling of the city changed from Sabattis to the current Sabattus .
