Sabattus is a town in Androscoggin County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 4876 inhabitants in 2121 households on an area of 69.7 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , Sabattus has a total area of 69.70 km², of which 66.59 km² is land and 3.11 km² consists of water .
Geographical location
Sabattus is located in the southeast of Androscoggin County, on the south bank of Sabattus Ponds. The outlet of the Sabattus Pond becomes the Sabattus River, which flows further south through Lisbon and flows into the Androscoggin River . There are other smaller lakes in the town area. In the northeast is the Sabattus Mountain (244 m). The town is almost square.

history
The city of Sabattus was first incorporated on March 21, 1788 under the name Webster . Sabattus originally belonged to the Town of Bowdoin. The area of the town was divided in 1840 and the northern part became the town of Webster, the southern part under the name Lisbon. The first settler in the area was Robert Ross from Brunswick. He lives in the area that still bears his name today. The first mill was built when Timothy moved to Weymouth in 1774. He built them for Jesse Davies.
It was named after a leader of the Indian tribe who lived in the area. Just before the first settlers entered the city, the tribe moved on. Originally only the lake, the river and a small mountain bore the name of the city. The spelling of the city changed from Sabattis to the current Sabattus .

Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
The Interstate 95 also called the Maine Turnpike leads northeast through Sabattus. Coming from the south, Maine State Route 9 runs through the town in a northerly direction and joins the Maine State Route 126 , which runs northeast along the Sabattus Ponds . A section of the Maine Central Railroad ran through Sabattus .
Public facilities
Poland does not have its own hospital. The closest hospitals are available to residents of the town in Lewiston and Lisbon.
