Livemore is in the northwest of Androscoggin County. The Androscoggin River forms the eastern border of Livemore. history

Livemore was founded on February 28, 1795. Originally it was given as a grand to some soldiers for their use against Port Royal in the mid-18th century. Deacon Elijah Livermore and Major Thomas Fish were the first settlers in 1779. Major Fish died in a winter snow storm on his way home from Winthrop to visit the lady he was engaged to. Deacon Livermore built the first mill in town in 1782 or 1783 near Long Pond. Sawmills, fulling mills and grist mills were operated at the outflow of this lake.

The Washburn family lived in Livemore. Many members of this family shaped the politics of those years. Among them, Reuel Washburn, Probate Judge for Androscoggin, Cadwallader C. Washburn, 11th Governor of the State of Wisconsin, Elihu B. Washburne, Secretary of State in the Cabinet of President Ulysses S. Grant , Israel Washburn, Jr. Governor of the State of Maine and William D Washburn, who represented the state of Minnesota in both houses of Congress. But other politically very active people were also based in Livemore, such as General David Learned, Jonathan G. Hunton, later Governor of Maine.

In Livemore there was a sawmill and a cheese factory. A tannery, two mills, a grist mill in North Livermore; and a sawmill near Livermore Falls.
